This week’s round of matches in The T. R. Carpets Grimsby Billiard League featured a thrilling match at the Hainton Club in which the leaders lost for the first time this season. Entertaining Birds Eye, a narrow 200-190 win for John Tomlinson against Michael Brown saw the visitors get off to a great start, but this was checked by Hainton’s captain Phil Lees who beat Gordon Coulling 200-159. An exiting finish, in which the game could have gone either way, went in favour of the Eye’s Roy Dickson as he ran out a 200-183 winner against Pete Howard.
Ray Edmonds A played host to Clee Bowls and quickly went into a 2-0 lead as Blake Munton beat Mick Chew 200-93 and Joe Tomkins saw off Harry Putland 200-165. The last set was a much closer affair as Bowler Ivan Bramhill beat the home team’s Nigel Smith 200-188 to steel a consolation point for the visitors.
